Lovely Thing #1

Monday, November 22, 2010

We all need a little loveliness now and then...

That's a phrase that I repeat quite often. I've decided to share some lovely things in life that make me
 swoon,
 smile,
laugh,
blush,
sigh,
etc.
Lovely thing numero uno: Snow!
A fabulous storm blew through today and I couldn't resist a little frolic..

Anyone else feeling happy, winter-ish and ready for the holidays?
Me thinks I need a steaming cup of apple cider right about now...

My little ones

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

My newest batch of inspiration and obsession. I always get a little starry eyed when I sort through my stones. They each have a life and a voice of their own. Sometimes a whisper, sometimes a shout, but they are all
lovely
They deserve to go out into the world and have adventures instead of sitting in a box.

So I sort through the masses, speaking softly to them all the while.

"Don't worry my little ones, you will all have your turn. These hands and the fruits of their labors will set you all free. I promise."

Some of their new homes in raw form:

One of the things I love most about creating these little stories, what I call each piece I make, is taking a pile of raw materials and turning them into something beautiful.
It's a form of magic to me.

And I am so thankful for it!
And for all of my little stones who wait patiently for me to hear their songs.

I am always listening...

Madness, madness I say!

Thursday, August 26, 2010

I know that we don't know each other well and I'm hoping I won't scare you away. So a forewarning:
I am a silly person. Goofy even. Dorky, if you will.
Best of all, unabashedly so.

I have a lifelong love of limericks.
This feeds directly into the aforementioned silliness.
Thank you childhood idol Edward Lear!

They have been known to randomly pop into this brain of mine and play on repeat until I write them down.
Here is my latest...

There once was a girl from Seattle.
She loved to put fire to metal.
She turned on her torch
 And burned down her porch!
She now looks for a new place to settle.

You could say that this one was loosely inspired by true events-
While my torch and I are in love, we do have the occasional spat:)

I'll be back in a few days to show you some pieces I'm working on.
And possibly some of the cabs I'm drooling over as well...

xoxo,
Tawny

If today were January 1st, I would professing my desire to be more diligent about posting on my blog.
And promising that I will do so.
Let's pretend!

I will rise to the challenge and become a more regular presence here in the blogiverse.
Force myself away from the bench and to the keyboard.

Cross my heart.

A painfully long rainy season + Sorely missed sunshine=
A  exploding and beauteous Northwest garden!

I've been getting lost in the sights and smells as of late. Giggling like a child at overflowing bowls of ripe cherries, fresh berries in my lemonade and perfect little cherry tomatoes in my salads. Sniffing all of the bright blooms and spending more time with the flora than even the bees have.

They may be soon signing a petition to have the giant, who's hogging all of their flowers, permanently removed from their workspace:)

I thought I would share these photos with you.
They are best viewed with a chilled glass of sweet tea in my opinion...

Odysseus
 My bear hunting Beauceron

Bob Ross-
Squirrel and resident peanut aficionado

Ferdinand Tiberius Frog
Garden guard and occasional fountain

I hope that those brought you a little joy and a few smiles.
I'm off to get lost in the tomatoes for a while...
